An oversized property in need of Smart Home Functionality

In East Barnet, our project involved the home of premier league footballer, Lucas Moura. This Tottenham Hotspur superstar was having difficulties with performing simple things in his ten-bedroom home such as having to turn off lights in multiple rooms and maintaining the quality of his Wi-Fi throughout the property. That’s why it was crucial that we stepped in to help turn the client’s home into a fully-functioning smart house. We wanted to provide him a family home that could allow for his family to enjoy their lives in a secure environment.

To do this, we decided that the home was in need of a Control4 home automation system. Control4 was integrated with equipment fromNest, Dahua, Ubiquiti, Maranta and Epsom. We also installed an access-controlled gate. That way the gate could be controlled from inside the home via his tablet or mobile phone.

The Challenge

A large home that was difficult to maintain

One of the biggest challenges of this property was its size and the build structure. As we had a lot of different upgrades in mind for the house, being able to keep an eye on what was going on in separate areas of the home was a challenge. The Wi-Fi in the property was poor, therefore we installed 57 data points withcat6e cabling. By improving the WiFi coverage of the home to 98% the client could now be connected in all areas of the property.

The Solution

With 57 data points installed, the property’s Wi-Fi dramatically improved. The smarter security system also meant that unwanted guests could be kept out of the property and the family could feel more secure. Even simpler tasks, such as turning off lights, became easier because they could be controlled through the access control system. The family loved the home cinema we installed in the house so they know have a place they all can relax and enjoy their time.
